As members of AFRA, we have the ability to be licensed and qualified to provide insurance, and can offer protection that many other removalists simply cannot. This means your belongings can be covered from the moment they leave your home until they are safely delivered to your new address or placed into storage.

The truth about removalist insurance

Many people assume that insurance is automatically included when they book a removalist. In reality, most removal companies are not licensed to offer insurance. Some may list “free insurance” on a quote, but this is often misleading.

Without the correct licence, they cannot legally provide or advise on insurance. In these situations, customers are relying purely on goodwill if something goes wrong, rather than having a real policy in place. We believe it is important for customers to know the difference.

AFRA membership and industry standards

As long-standing members of AFRA, the Australian Furniture Removers Association, we meet strict industry standards that are voluntarily upheld by accredited removalists across Australia.

AFRA is a not-for-profit organisation that sets guidelines for training, professional conduct and safe practice. AFRA membership is also a requirement for a removal company to hold the necessary insurance licence. Every staff member who discusses insurance with you must be individually qualified, and our team meets these requirements.

What most removalists cannot offer

Standard removalist negligence insurance is not the same as customer insurance. Negligence cover only applies if the removalist is at fault. This means incidents such as weather damage, accidental breakage, fire, or flood may not be covered unless you have the correct policy.

As we are licensed, we can offer real insurance cover that protects you from events outside of the removalist’s control. This is a key point of difference for Bundaberg Removals and Storage, as very few removalists in the region are licensed to provide this.
